Siciliansk Is, a small oasis in the heart of Copenhagen, is owned and run by David Ciccia and Michael Søndergaard.
To the Danes, less is more and they appreciate good flavours and organic food, and at Siciliansk Is, 60-90% of the produce is organic.
David is very passionate about ice cream, having worked in his cousin’s café in Sicily where he learned to make ice cream with locally sourced ingredients.
It is important to David that his ice cream is ‘authentic’ and of high quality – so when he wanted to develop a honey flavoured variant, he decided to cooperate with CSR-project ByBi (City Bee).
ByBi helps people on the edge of society by employing them as beekeepers and sales people of the honey they harvest from the more than 20 million bees released in Copenhagen in recent years.
The honey ice cream tastes differently depending on which part of Copenhagen the honey is harvested in.
